Activities around Combe Martin

Combe Martin is the perfect base for a North Devon and Exmoor holiday whatever your interests; ideal for a family holiday at the beach, romantic weekend break or activity holiday.

 

Kayaking

Kayaking and stand up paddle boarding in and around Combe Martin Bay is a great experience during your holiday. You can hire a kayak or paddle board right on the beach and take a leisurely paddle around our safe bay to experience the stunning north Devon and Exmoor National Park coastline, full of secret inlets, caves and secluded beaches - a magical experience.

 

Walking

Enjoying the excellent walking in this area is one of the main reasons for visiting. To the west of Combe Martin is the wonderful scenery of the North Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and to the east is the impressive Exmoor National Park. You are spoilt for choice. Horse Riding

Within a few minutes drive from the village we have riding stables suitable for all abilities, from novice to experienced. Hacking over moorland and coastal heath as well as lessons are available. See advert below.
 

Mountain Biking and Electric Mountain Biking

Stargazing in our Dark Sky Reserve

Exmoor was the first area to be designated in Europe as a Dark Sky Reserve. Close to Combe Martin is Holdstone Down which offers ideal dark skies for observing the heavens. Gardens

This area is blessed with some wonderful gardens. They are usually in sheltered valleys and with our mild winter weather kept warm by the Gulf Stream, some exotic plants can be enjoyed. Go to our 'Gardens' page for more ideas.

If you can tackle the ups and downs of the hilly landscape, there is some great cycling routes to be found around North Devon and Exmoor with the Tarka Trail and the Sustrans network.
