combemartinmuseumWe are a registered charity and an Accredited Museum based in Combe Martin virtually on the beach. Recently rehoused in a completely refurbished building we offer an attractive, interesting and easily accessible resource for anyone interested in the history of Combe Martin and the area surrounding the village.

The Trustees of the Museum work with the North Devon Museum, Heritage Lottery Fund, MLA, AONB and Exmoor National Park to ensure the preservation and presentation of the heritage of Combe Martin and the area surrounding the village.

School Workshops have been very popular with the pupils who have attended them and it is hoped to expand our work in this area over the coming months. We have been successfully used by preschool, primary, secondary and special schools over the last year. The Museum Learning Coordinator is a former Primary School Headteacher and can help with planning to meet learning objectives right across the curriculum. If schools want to liven up a project with a very affordable trip to a seaside museum then this is the place to come!

museumExhibits are displayed on three floors in well lit, easily accessible areas and cover personalia, the industrial, maritime and natural history of Combe Martin. There is a wheelchair lift available for those who have difficulty with the stairs.

The focus for the Spring Term will be on Communication and the maritime history of Combe Martin nonetheless if schools have a particular topic they think we can support please get in touch. We have contacts with Exmoor Zoo, Coastwise, Exmoor National Park and AONB North Devon so can draw on a wealth of knowledge and expertise to support projects.

We welcome donations and are always seeking volunteers to help support our Museum. If you want to get involved please contact us.
