To the East of Combe Martin on the border of Exmoor is the rural parish of Kentisbury and the small village of Parracombe. Both lie in beautiful surroundings and can be reached from the A399 out of Combe Martin. Kentisbury, just 4 miles from Combe Martin, is made up of 3 Hamlets with over half the parish in Exmoor National Park.
The Parish Church lies centrally. There is also a school, Post Office, general store, garage, the Old Station Inn and various accommodation providers. The nearby village of Parracombe is located between Combe Martin and Lynton and is just inside the borders of Exmoor. Despite a population of less than 400 people it boasts a school, Post Office, general store, a castle, two churches and a charming freehouse pub and restaurant.
Many other wonderful spots can be reached by car or on foot. To the West, the secluded beaches at Sandy Cove and Broad Sands and Watermouth Cove. To the East, the views from Great and Little Hangman, the open moorland of Holdstone Down, spectacular scenery of Heddon’s Mouth, quaint Parishes of Martinhoe and Trentishoe, steam trains at the delightful Woody Bay Station and the popular nearby Hunters Inn.
